Clipping

Clipping is getting paid per view for short clips of long videos

A clipper takes a podcast, a stream or a launch video, cuts the best 15 to 60 seconds out of it, and posts the clip on TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts. Brands fund campaign pools and pay every clipper a set rate for the views their clips get. This page is the map of everything we have written about it.

How a clipping campaign works

  1. 1

    A brand funds a pool

They set a rate per 1,000 views, a cap per clip and the rules, and hand over the footage. The budget is a hard ceiling.

  2. 2

    Clippers cut and post

Short vertical clips from the footage, posted to TikTok, Reels and Shorts from the clipper's own verified accounts.

  3. 3

Views are read from the platform

Each clip link is submitted and its view count is fetched from the app, first right away and then on a schedule. No screenshots.

  4. 4

The brand approves, the clipper is paid

Approved earnings land in a balance, unlock after 30 days, and are withdrawn to PayPal or a USDC or USDT wallet.

Why it works for both sides

Short video apps show every new clip to a small test group of strangers and only push it further if people finish it. Followers barely matter. One long video cut into twenty clips is twenty separate chances, and a brand new account can land a clip with 300,000 views in its first week. That is why clippers can earn without an audience.

For a brand, fifty clippers posting five clips a day is 250 posts a day, each with its own test group. No single sponsored post can do that, and the brand only pays for views that actually happened. The pool is funded up front, the campaign closes itself when the pool is spent, and anything unspent comes back.

The one thing the whole system depends on is that the view counts are real, which is why every count is read from the platform, every clip comes from a verified account, spikes and drops are flagged, and earnings wait 30 days before they can be withdrawn. How view tracking works has the details.
